Gave it a try despite the ratings. Mistake! If you do go do not order the Dan Dan — I love spicy but the spicy level destroys everything (I even removed an additional gob of chili). I don’t get how they think this is serviceable. Reduce the spice by 90-95% to improve. Sushi and the mushroom dish were average ish I guess. Service was good. Nice ambience down stairs. Overall overpriced. This would maybe be 3 star simply by removing their worse dishes.

More of a 2.5 stars. Good food, friendly service, but very disappointing portion size.
This place is a multi-floor building, with the bar upstairs and the sushi in the tiny basement. They have a wooden structure set up on the sidewalk where you can order and pickup drinks and food. The street parking in front is currently blocked off to allow for outdoor dining.
We mainly came because we were interested in the Temarizushi box set. The presentation was very pretty and the fish quality was good. But these decorated rice ball sushi are very small. One is about the same size as two nigiri and the fish are sliced VERY thinly. Definitely NOT worth $44.
The staff were friendly and all wore masks. I did have to wait a few minutes for my order since they didn't have it ready on time.
Most likely won't come again.
Very mediocre. Sushi rolls have too much rice and the mushrooms were ok, but not “exotic”. The worst thing was the dan dan noodles which was way too spicy and lacked the classic dan dan flavours (or just any flavour, besides spice).
This was by far the worst ramen I have ever eaten in my life. Service was really bad as well. It started with a frustrating order experience involving scanning a QR code and conducting the order on your phone. The page had no clear description of what ingredients are included in the base ramen recipe (I ended up paying for an extra egg without knowing that it already came with one), but they sure didn't forget the mandatory 20% tip at checkout! The waitress didn't check on one not a single time before started arriving, to the point that when the runner brought the first ramen, the table was still dirty. Some of the orders in my party came incorrect, too. In sum, this was a total disaster and I'll never choose to eat here again.
A friend and I had reservations for lunch at the counter. The nigiri hamachi yellowtail was delicious; nigiri blue fin tuna (medium fatty belly) was...OK; miso soup was tasty; and the Spider roll was amazing. Service was prompt and not intrusive. Will return the next time I'm in DC. Dec 3/22
I cannot explain well enough how impeccable the food, cocktails, and vibe are at this place, so hopefully my photos convince you. Ordered one of everything on the izakaya side, some of the veggies, an onigiri and some seconds on the skewers, four drinks, shared with a mate. The sous vide beef shortrib was fall apart tender and crusted perfectly, and everything was some of the best I've had. Another great standout was the charred leeks with some crazy umeboshi emulsion with the bright tartness contrasting with the earthy ashiness of the leeks. World class.
Really solid spot overall. Excellent cocktails (the Spanish Magic was perfectly balanced), finger-licking good skewers (sampled both the chicken thighs and the pork and they were dusted perfectly with the rub), tender and well grilled and seasoned eggplant, and competent sashimi. I would say the sashimi was the only thing that could use some improvement, it just wasn't as fresh as what you would expect for a $52 12-piece. I think you're better off getting a few small plates and a couple of maki rolls here.
We dined in the cozy and dimly basement at the sushi bar. It's got a cool feel to it though others might find it a bit too cramped.
Service was wonderful, our hostess was very friendly and helpful throughout the night.
The atmosphere is great. Service is decent. Food is not great. I was really disappointed. The noodles in my ramen were mushy and the broth too oily. Karaage was really bland while the sauce was extremely spicy.
